Where your review lives

Static analysis
Runs locally against the pull request.
Reviewed marks
Stay in your local data store.
Review drafts
Stay local until you choose to publish them to GitHub.
Cache
Holds rebuildable review data, separately from marks and drafts.

What uses the network

  • GitHub and your repository remote, to read the pull request and publish feedback you choose to send.
  • Initial setup and updates, to prepare Oaink for local analysis.
  • Account and billing services, when you use account features.
  • Your configured model endpoint, when you explicitly ask Lens to explain a change. Model requests can include relevant review context and code.

Static analysis does not require sending your code to an Oaink analysis server. Model access is bring-your-own-key and remains separate from repository access.

Local connection

VS Code connects to a local review service. Your marks and drafts remain available when you stop that service.

Deep static analysis

Oaink manages the local analysis setup so you can focus on the review. If analysis cannot complete, the review shows the limitation.
